Sun Dance lip balsam

Hi my Readers πŸ™‚

I don’t know how is the weather around you but where I am, it was suposed to be spring and maybe even summer-ish temperatures for a while now. The winter is taking it’s time but the preparations for the summer have already started. That is not visible by my clothing but definitely in my mind πŸ˜€

Few years go, dm dregerie markt have released their lip balms with SPF. I don’t know if that is entirely true or some marketing trick to get us to buy more stuff but I still got it because I lost the one with 20 SFP that I had. To my surprise it smelled like coconut as claimed but also tasted sweat. At the time I worked at a place where people didn’t bother to ask if in the things left behind in the women’s powder room belonged to someone so they threw it away. It may have been my fault but still, didn’t hurt to ask or leave it for people to find it. I guess SPF doesn’t like me that much πŸ˜€

Anyways… because it was limited edition, I couldn’t buy it again so I forgot about it, up until few days ago when I saw that dm’s brand SUN Dance have released something suspiciously similar. I like coconut and of course I bought it so here is my opinion on it:

I may not be the same but it sure reminds me a lot of it so I’d say – suspiciously similar.

Previous one: had thicker consistency. Smelled sweet – vanilla and little bit like coconut. Tasted slightly sweet (not at the point where you would like to eat it, but just comfortable not to taste like oil).

New one: thinner consistency, other than that everything is the same.

Also, the packaging is different. It was yellow, now is cute light blue with coconut and some summer themes on it.

I don’t know if the inflation is hitting them too and that’s why they made it thinner this time πŸ˜€

It doesn’t say it is limited edition but just like the previous one I assume it will go away once the summer is gone and once they get rid of the stocks.

How it feels: other than the cute packaging and everything about the smell and taste, I don’t see much of a difference. The previous one used to leave a white film on the lips which actually looked nice. I don’t need much help for the lips but I have noticed that whenever I am wearing it, I tend to constantly smush my lips together. I don’t know why is that but has happened few times before too, with other lip balms.

Does it protect the lips from the sun? I don’t know, yet, since there is not much sun and I only got it 2 weeks ago, although it claims to protect against the UVA and UVB rays so hopefully it will.

It is fair amount (10ml) so I would assume it will last quite a bit. The ingredients are not that special.

As I am sitting and writing this, I can feel that the lip balm is disappearing and that’s little bit too fast for me. If I lose this one, I don’t know if I would buy it again or just finally try the coconut one from Ziaja πŸ˜€ https://positivityandbeauty.wordpress.com/2019/03/22/my-used-to-be-favorite-lip-balm/

And another review from Balea and their lip balms (which is practically the same or very similar)

Any thoughts on this one?

Wishing you a good start of the week.

My used-to-be favorite lip balm

Standard

Hi my Readers πŸ™‚

It is not often I find something that I can call favorite. Recently I wrote a post about my favorite shower gel and how they changed it after the repackaging. And it is time I write my thoughts about the balm that was my favorite, checked 3 cities, 10 stores and walked so many kilometers until I found it.

The first lip balm that I tried from Ziaja was the orange one. It was good and when I finished it I wanted to try another one. And then is when I tried the olive one.

Ziaja lip balm

ziaja olive lip balm nourishing new old

Why I liked this lip balm

The orange one.
When I first tried the orange one, it was winter time. All of the other lip balms were having that waxy feeling on my mouth and I always felt them on my lips. This one was A BALM for the lips. A REAl BALM for the lips. I was so amazed by it that I wore it all the time. It had that slip to it and I really enjoyed it. Come summer, it had the same consistency. It wasn’t too oily from the warmth, it was perfect. The most amazing consistency of a balm that I have ever tried.

When I finished it, I tried the olive one. Same thing, even more amazed that the other one because it had even better smell to it. I like oranges but this one had the most amazing smell. It was BALM for the lips, was not waxy in cold and was not oily in warm. Same consistency all the time.

Looking for the new one

I traveled abroad for the summer.Β  I left this one because I knew that If I would be out a lot, I would need something with SPF. (Here I wrote about how my coleague thought it was a french frie and threw it away and all that stuff.) Since then, I couldn’t find it. I searched everywhere and finaly gave up and decided to just buy another one and it I find it, I would just have back up. That is when I searched for it in 3 cities and so many stores.

I was ready to buy an expired one just to have it again :D.

Luckily, they brought it again and I bought it. Lo and behold, few days later I find the old one on my desk in between some books πŸ˜€

The new version (you can buy it by clicking here)

The new one has oily slip to it. It is left on the cold and sometimes it feels like I’m putting water on it. If I put a little too muck it feels like I just ate some VERY oily salad.

It disappointed me so much. From my favorite balm, to an oil for the lips.

I mean, If I wanted oil for the lips, I would have just use coconut oil. I tried placing it in the fridge. That helped and it did make it better but it is pointless when I need to use it on room-temperature. Not to mention summer.

Just yesterday I wore it in my pocked and it became so liquidy that it flew right out of the tube and ended up on my coat, scarf and half of my face. I didn’t even pressured it for it to make such a mess.

The opening is so scratchy that sometimes hurt my lips and have to be reeeally careful. all of this problems and now to be careful when applying lip balm that supposed to be soothing? Nah, thanks.

Comparison

It looks like there are some changes to the look as well. The old one looks like it is made for the USA and the EU markets (generalization, but you know what I mean) by the metric/imperial measurements that are placed on the packaging.

The new one looks like it has only the metric measuring system on the packaging.

Conclusion:

Knowing that I ruined a scarf, coat and my hair because it got everywhere since it is more like oil and not a balm, it is not any more nourishing as it used to be and it really it is not what I expect from it, I am really disappointed that I don’t have my favorite lip balm anymore.

Did something similar happened to you?

What is your favorite lip balm? I am currently searching for one.

Here is another post about lip balms as I am searching for new one.

Have a nice one,

Balea lip care

Hi my Readers πŸ™‚

This post is going to be about their two limited edition lip products but also their lip products in general.

BaleaΒ lip balms

balea lippen pflege review crazy coco pearly vanilla lip balm lip balsam dm drogerie markt.JPG

Lets start with the limited edition BaleaΒ Crazy Coco lippen pflege.

It is ok for everyday use when you don’t want to spend too much and if you don’t have any particular issues. Some of them are flavored like the one coconut one, but some of them are deceiving like the one with the sparkles in them. I guess, it is on or the other πŸ˜€

I bought this one when I was in Germany because a colleague of mine thought my other one with SFP 30 that fell out of my pocket was a french fries and ignore to mention that fact (mind-blown, except I think that she took it since it was fairly new). It was from DM’s other exclusive line – alverde, limited edition, was in tube, tasted really good, looked nice on my lips…but it is what it is. Lets get back to this one.

I used it few times a day and it was ok. What was important to me – it looked really good with lipsticks and did not make the smudge away from my lips. It was ok for when I had chapped lips. You can find similar to this one on this siteΒ for the europe andΒ this linkΒ for USA.

Balea Pearly Vanilla

This one I bought because I thought it would be great as face highlighter not thinking about the fact that this has ingredients that aren’t good for the skin on the face. I think I tried it, looked sparkly but since then I haven’t used it on the face, maybe because I bought this highlighter that you can find here for the USAΒ and find here for Europe (Germany). Maybe I should try it as a base for the highlighter…. Ooooo….

On the lips looked sparkely but didn’t do much with the hydration. So I haven’t used it much. Also it is still winter so maybe that is the reason why I haven’t used it so much.

I tried to capture the glitter but the camera captured as much as it did..

Balea is a German product line exclusive to the DM cosmetic markets but it can also be find inΒ this linkΒ for the europe andΒ this linkΒ for USA.

Have you tried some of their lip products? Any recommendation? I really want to know since I’m in need of a new lip balm.

Have a nice weekend, Antidote πŸ˜‰

essence lip liner 11 in the nude

Standard

Hi my Readers πŸ™‚

essence in the nude 11

I don’t usually wear nude lip liners but with all the hype that it gets, I decided to try it out. So, I purchased few nude lip products. They are all from essence. But one of the it hurts my lips sooo bad. I wore it a few times inside but never could’ve get out and wear it because it hurt my lips.

That is the lip liner from essence – 11 in the nude.Β

essence in the nude

Because it is very stiff, first I apply lip balm and then I go over it with this lip liner. After a minute or two, my lips start burning. It is very strange because I have few other lip liners from essence that I purchased in the same time and none of them were reacting like that on my lips. So, no luck with the nude. I like bold lips more, anyways πŸ˜€

Have you experienced something like this? I’m really curious to know if this happened to anyone else.

Also, if you have dupe suggestions for this lip liner – So this happened (suggestions for dupe?)Β let me know because my one broke and there is not much left 😦

It is essenceΒ 05 soft berry.Β It is from their β€žlast callβ€œ shades and I can not find it any more.

Days later edit:

It is very hard so I was having trouble applying it so my thoughts are that that is the reason for hurting my lips. I tried applying it slowly and I didn’t had that problem as much. But everything is an assumption πŸ™‚

Mistake for the skin: over-exfoliating your lips

Mistake for the skin: over-exfoliating your lips

Hi my Readers πŸ™‚

How is it going? πŸ™‚ I made few posts about mistake for the skin and I thought about doing some more. This post’s subject is going to be about over-exfoliating your lips.

As you may or may not know, the skin on your lips and the skin around your eyes is the most sensitive and the thinnest.

Exfoliating the lips (and doing it so frequently) is not that good for the skin on the lips. If you’ve noticed that the skin on the lips is renewing itself more an more often, you might be doing something wrong.

I don’t like exfoliating my lips because the skin on the lips (together with the skin around the eyes) is the most sensitive one and I don’t want to irritate it even more and cause damages. And If I don’t exfoliate too much, there is no need to exfoliate it often because it does not gather up and does not renew itself as much. It does not send a signal the there is need of renewing it self more and more. Just like washing your hair so frequently and it just gets oily more frequently.

As an example: I have only one place on my lips that I used to bite the skin from – all the time. Now, that place is renewing itself so much, it gets dry, it causes my lipstick to gather up the lipstick there and look very bad. And as it is dry – it hurts when the lipstick is placedΒ So, that is my experience and that is why I choose not to exfoliate.

Lesson learned for me. But I thought that is good to let you know that over-exfoliating your skin in general (the lips especially) is not good for the skin. You may think: oh, my lipstick looks better when I exfoliate. But that is only for now. It gets worse.

So, if you want to have good lips in the furute, my advice is: don’t exfoliate too much and so often.

If you have something to add to this subject and how exfoliating affects your skin and the skin on your lips – you can write about it in the comment πŸ™‚

Lacalut lip balm

Lacalut lip balm

Hi my Readers πŸ™‚

lacalut lip balm lip care heart lips

This post is going to be about Lacalut’s lip balm.

lacalut lip balm lip care heart lips

I have a favorite lip balm that does not create an addiction to the skin (if you don’t know what I am writing about, I will make post just for that and dedicate it to this subject) and I am almost running out of it. So I decided to try something new. I try something new once in a while but I always go back to the same one (I will make a post about that one too πŸ™‚ ).

The past few weeks I’ve been using Lacalut’s lip balm. At first, it seemed good. Soft, smelled sweet and it was moisturizing my lips. After a while, I’ve noticed that whenever I used it I had problems with the skin on my lips. As an example: I has only one place on my lips that I used to bite all the time and now, that place is renewing itself so much and it causes my lipstick to gather up there and look very bad. So, that is my experience and that is why I choose not to exfoliate.

lacalut lip balm lip care heart lips

Now, on the subject. I applied the lip balm before sleeping and when I woke up, I’ve noticed that my lips are moisturized but were sooo chapped and there was skin in the inner parts of the lips so much that it was uncomfortable. I know it seems gross but that is what happened. So, I decided to use it throughout the day as well. I applied it many times in a day and noticed that If I don’t, my lips were getting chapped. And there it is: another way of addicting lipstick.

Now when I’m writing this, I applied another lip balm that is really stiff but it’s not addictive and does not cause dry patches.

More about the product.

So this happened (suggestions for dupe?)

Standard

Few weeks ago I bought myself this shade of lip liner. I really like how it looks on my lips and my skin but yesterday I found it in my bag looking like this.

lip li

It is Essence in shade 05 soft berry. It is from their β€žlast callβ€œ shades and I can not find it any more.

I know that I have enough left but I still want to buy another lipstick or lipliner that will be dupe to this one so if anyone has any suggestions, please leave them in the comments. I would prefer more affordable options since apparently my bag is ruining my stuff. Thank you. πŸ™‚

Have a good one,

DIY test: tinted lip balm

Standard

Hi Reader πŸ™‚

I know that this topic is long old news but I decided to share my results anyway.

Because of a trend that was spreading around the internet, I make a DIY test only to get answer for my curiosity. That trend was DIY – homemade tinted lip balm.

Ingredients:

  • Petroleum jelly
  • Kool + aid (red, cant remember the flavor)

I mixed little bit of the petroleum jelly with a little bit of the kool aid. I did not measure it because on every recipe that I find, the measurements were different. So I β€žwingedβ€œ it πŸ˜€
The end result was textured, thick consistency, red, with very strong scent. I immediately saw why it looked like that. The kool aid needs watter to dissolve the granules. And if I first dissolve the kool aid with water, I will not be able to combine that mixture with the petroleum jelly (because of its consistency). I don’t have pictures so I can show you the results because I threw it away but now when I’m writing this post I wish that I took some pictures. But, you only need pictures when something works, right? πŸ™‚

I tested in on the lips anyway.

Is it usable? No.

It was a big fail. Β It came out very thick, withΒ weird texture, was very rough on the lips and because of the strong cool aid flavor, it was hurting my lips. There is no way that I could make it work.

If you haven’t tried it yet, that was the right choice because it was not worth the time.

I hope that you will find my opinions helpful.

Remember to do something good today.

Stay positive πŸ™‚
