Twitter now has stories and it’s called fleet.
They are also testing a new option where fans can’t comment to their fan pages and people can’t comment to other people.
I see this as pointless because as a social network that primary started with HASHTAGS that were there to identify a tweet that you are in need of.
With this option, twitter completely loses the point of having followers. Why are you having them if you don’t like the interaction? You can’t see replies too, even though you are following that fan account since the beginning of twitter…sort of speak.
If someone doesn’t want communication but writes on a social media that is open an the primary was with hashtags and discovering what you need through them, what are they doing on twitter then? There is always the option not to reply to the comment too. But removing communication and fan posting on pages together with stories – it sure cannot call themselves twitter anymore.
The answer to „someone uses twitter only for people they know“: the option where you can lock your account, hide replies and choose who to let in is still there. And they came to the wrong social platform.
This is how it looks and you are only able to like (what they also changed from FAVE) and retweet:
And the stories? Like we needed any more of those.
This is how they look like (image edited because it was taken from twitter from their ownership and wanted to hide that person identity):

Evolving is one thing. Copying everyone else is just cowardliness, falling into a pattern of „following the leader“ and losing your uniqueness that made you what you are, especially after changing so many privacy policies that basically mean that you don’t have your privacy since everything you do is sent to authorities without needing special permition.
